FAQ
How is GST calculated in India?
To add GST, multiply the base amount by the GST rate (5%, 12%, 18% or 28%) and add it to the base. For example, GST on Rs 1,000 at 18% is Rs 180, making the total Rs 1,180.
What is the difference between CGST, SGST and IGST?
For a sale within the same state, GST is split equally into CGST (central) and SGST/UTGST (state). For a sale to another state, the full GST is charged as a single IGST (integrated GST).
How do I remove GST from a total (reverse GST)?
Divide the GST-inclusive total by (100 + rate) and multiply by 100 to get the base amount. The GST is the difference between the total and that base. Use the Remove GST mode above to do this instantly.
